ARIK FORSMAN has served as an At-Large member of the Duluth City Council since 2018. Arik's passion for service courses through his day-to-day life, from his chosen career in economic development to his track record of volunteerism.
Arik grew up on the Iron Range, where he witnessed economic instability that instilled his desire to build local economies that provide stable, family-sustaining jobs. He carries that forward as a Regional Development Representative with Minnesota Power, where he builds relationships with partners across the region and state to grow the communities he serves.
Arik moved to Duluth in 2006 to attend UMD. He and his wife Jessica fell in love with Duluth as students, never left, and chose Duluth as the place to build and grow their family. Arik and Jessica live in Kenwood with their two children - a three-year-old daughter and one-year-old son - and pug.
On any given night, you might find Arik and his family enjoying one of Duluth's many beautiful parks, taking a walk on the Lakewalk with their pug, eating at one of the area's delicious local restaurants, or cheering proudly at a UMD hockey game.
Arik is committed to serving the people of Duluth with an open mind, collaborative spirit, positive attitude, respectful approach, and passion for helping champion ideas that lift us all.
